First half class gives Anselmians win

ANSELMIANS took the honours in a must win game for both sides.

Anselmians had a number of players returning to the side and in the first half they blew away Wigton and had the game won.

The first try came after nine minutes following a line out. Mahe Pepe dived in to score. The second try started with a break from skipper Paul Hellier and then forwards and backs took the ball to the line where scrum half Paul Kay went in. This was converted by Simon Mason to give a score of 12-0.

Towards the end of the half Wigton got into the game with a try of their own but just on the whistle some good forward pressure from the home side set up centre Matt Pennington to crash over. The converted try gave a half-time score of 26-5.

Anselmians extended their lead early in the second half with two penalties from Mason.A series of penalties for the visitors led to another try scored and a score of 32-17. Anselmians forced a five metre scrum from which Petterson was on hand to go over in the corner. Mason converted to give a score of 39-17.
