Chester stay in second

CHESTER were glad to return to winning ways in National Three North to hold second place in the table.

It was never easy at Burnage and they had to dig deep late on to retain a 31-18 advantage.

Gareth Martin made a welcome return in the back row. Will Bown also resumed at number eight but it was not a happy occasion for him. He sustained a back injury and had to leave the action after only 10 minutes.

Win number nine should be on the cards this Saturday when lowly Penrith are the visitors to Hare Lane. Sean Green will still be missing. He is expected to need another three weeks to overcome a hamstring problem.
