Sandbach show their class and speed

THIS was certainly a game of two halves where Sandbach showed their class, fitness and speed of thought.

An early penalty was missed and a cross field kick led to the first try with an intercept.

Anselmians found themselves 10-0 down minutes later again having been in the ascendency.

Midway through the half they had the chance to kick three points but decided to go for touch instead and then lost the ball.

They did get points on the score board midway through the first half with a Simon Mason penalty.

However, some woeful defence down the wing led to a further try for Sandbach and the half time score was 15-3.

Although Anselmians played well the writing was on the wall.

The away supporters were hoping for more in the second half but an injury to centre Phil Brocken meant a re-shuffle and this clearly upset the rhythm because in the space of 10 minutes four tries had been scored by the home side and with the score at 39-3 it was a case of damage limitation.

Anselmians salvaged some pride with a try from number 8 Loa Tupou but then a further three tries from Sandbach gave Anselmians their heaviest defeat of the season.

Sandbach played the game at pace and fitness was a big factor in the second half.

This is clearly something the coaching staff will have to work on before the Broughton Park game.
