Widnes take bonus

WIDNES lost narrowly in Cumbria, but still managed to pick up a bonus point to maintain their forward momentum.

They trailed 10–8 at the break, with Kevin Leadbetter scoring a try and kicking a penalty.

In the second half, they fell further behind, before winger Matty Smith scored their second try of the afternoon. With time ticking down, there was still time for Widnes to make a long range break, only for the referee to pull the play back for a forward pass as they raced clear for the line.
