SHAUN EDWARDS hasrevealed he received no approach from England before agreeing a new contract with Wales.
Edwards will continue to coach Wales’ defence for a further four years in a role that also allows him to work for an Aviva Premiership club on a part-time basis.
The new deal concludes any chance of the highly-rated 45-year-old, who stepped down from his post at Wasps two weeks ago, joining England’s coaching team before the 2015 World Cup.
And while Edwards would have been happy to receive an approach from the Rugby Football Union, he insists he would never tout himself for positions that are already filled.
“Wales is the only concrete offer I’ve had. I haven’t heard anything else,” he said.
“I haven’t had any contact with anyone from England.
“You’re always open to offers but I haven’t heard anything from the RFU and I wouldn’t expect to. England’s coaches are still in place.
“There’s paper talk, but in the end I’m not the kind of guy to be pitching for other men’s jobs.
“England have got a very good team of coaches already. They are Six Nations champions and they have played some great rugby in the last couple of years.
“Unfortunately the World Cup didn’t go their way but I have a lot of respect for those guys,” he added.
