Waterloo take positives from defeat to league leaders Darlington Mowden Park

“WE WERE of course very disappointed to lose but there was certainly no embarrassment in that result against the National Three North league leaders,” said Waterloo director of rugby Jan Van Deventer after his side had gone down 32-8 away to Darlington Mowden Park.

“We were up against a very physical, experienced and street wise pack and were ‘under the cosh’ right from the first whistle and with the opposition enjoying 85% plus possession we were forced to defend for most of the 80 minutes. That is energy sapping but I am sure we will benefit from the experience.”

This Saturday Waterloo are again away in the northeast to take on West Hartlepool.

“There are no easy away games in this league particularly in the northeast.” Deventer said. “Yet we did learn at lot from last week’s game and if we can play with the same focus as we showed against DMP this is a game we can win.”
