ROB TUDOR will represent England this weekend at the British Masters International Cross Country Championships being held at Bellahouston Park, Glasgow.
The West Cheshire AC distance runner will compete in the over-45 age group event on Saturday alongside fellow countrymen David Benton, Guy Bracken, Keith Newton, Phil Parry, and Paul Ward.
Tudor, who last represented England as a schoolboy, is excited about the prospect of representing England after experiencing a memorable year in track, road, and cross country races. He heads the over-45 men’s UK ranking lists for one mile after clocking four minutes 39 seconds at Bebington Oval in June, and he holds top 10 positions for his age group rankings for 1500m, 3,000m, 5km, and five miles.
Tudor’s training partner, Dave Alexander, headed West Cheshire AC’s senior men home at the third round of the North Staffs Cross Country League staged on a 10k course at Stafford Common.
Alexander posted 35 minutes 13 seconds for 13th position, ahead of club colleagues Andrew Clague (44th in 37:59), Mark Davies (112th in 42:14), and Dave Hough (166th in 45:48) in the field of 237 finishers, while Mary Radford posted 32:40 for 119th in the 5km women’s race which featured 130 finishers.
James McMahon, Zac Barnsley, Matthew Pagan, and Chris Harrop steered West Cheshire AC’s under 15 boys team to victory at the second round of the North West Sportshall League at Widnes.
FIXTURES this weekend kick off on Friday night with the West Cheshire AC AGM at EPIC Leisure Centre, Ellesmere Port, (7.30pm start).
The Liverpool and District Cross Country League match incorporates the European Cross Country Trials at Sefton Park, Liverpool, on Saturday, and West Cheshire AC members are being invited to a Cheshire Athletics Network event at Macclesfield on Sunday.
