WEATHER permitting, all things rugby should return to normal this weekend, as Widnes play host to Northwich in their first home game of 2012.
And head coach Lee McDermott will be hoping that his side can maintain the kind of form that saw them finish 2011 in second spot in the league, as well as being the first side to qualify for the semi-finals of the Lancashire Trophy.
Before all that though, they must deal with more pressing matters by seeing off the formidable challenge of their mid-Cheshire rivals who themselves are desperate to re-ignite their own challenge as one of the pre-season favourites for promotion.
Widnes, on the other hand, will be looking to step up to the mark as they look to get revenge for a narrow defeat in a bruising encounter at Moss Farm in round four.
Back then, the Heath Road side were still finding their feet following promotion, but they have learnt fast since then, rocketing up the table and losing just two more games in the process.
The game kicks off at 2.15pm.
