West Park triumph on wild day

STORM damage to goalposts on West Park’s first team pitch meant the venue was switched to their pitch at the summit of Eccleston Hill, leaving players and spectators at the mercy of what developed into a howling gale as the match progressed.

The scoresheet remained blank for the first half hour as players from both sides tried to overcome the arduous conditions and play some decent rugby.

Late on, the Park eight began to boss the scrums after having shaded the lineouts throughout and Chris Dyson broke free to score, followed soon after by replacement Liam Hill from Danny Green’s pass with Warren Hunt converting for his only success of the afternoon.
