RUGBY LEAGUE: St Helens ring in the new for Widnes Vikings clash

RUGBY LEAGUE: St Helens are to play all three close-season signings in tomorrow’s (Friday) Karalius Cup match against Widnes, the first game at their new Langtree Park stadium.

Utility back Lance Hohaia, front rower Anthony Laffranchi and back rower Mark Flanagan are named in coach Royce Simmons’ 20-man squad for Saints’ first outing since their Grand Final defeat by Leeds last October.

St Helens will be without skipper Paul Wellens, who is striving to overcome an Achilles injury, forward Tony Puletua and England centre Michael Shenton, who dislocated his elbow in the Grand Final and is also out of Saints’ opening Super League match at London Broncos on February 4.
