Twists and turns await Widnes RUFC

IF last night’s (Wednesday) semi final has gone to plan, then fingers crossed, Widnes RUFC will be preparing for their first ever Lancashire Trophy Final appearance against Littleborough at Tyldesley on Easter Monday.

It would be a great opportunity for them to put some silverware in the trophy cabinet for the first time in many years, and will be just reward for the progress the club has made since the dark days of the professional era.

Alternatively, if things haven’t worked out, then Lee McDermott’s men will have the Easter weekend off before locking horns with Liverpool St Helens in their penultimate league game of the season at Heath Road.

After that, there is the trip to Wirral to round off the 2011/12 league campaign, but with a play off game for promotion still in the balance, the season may well still have some twists and turns before the curtain finally draws closed.
