DESPITE last Saturday’s 15-8 loss at Widnes, Liverpool St Helens, courtesy of Broughton Park’s heroics at Northwich, find themselves with everything to play for in the last game of the season this weekend.
With Sandbach now well past the hundred point mark and planning for next year in National 3 North, the race for the play-off spot could not be closer.
With LSH and Widnes on 83 points and Northwich on 82, the calculators could well be out at around 4.30 to decide which of the North West clubs will have the pleasure of a trip to the North East to play Percy Park. Widnes visit Wirral, Northwich travel to Anselmians whilst LSH host bottom club Aspatria.
So, there should be great excitement at Moss Lane this Saturday where, just as over on the Wirral, LSH will be eager not just to win but will want to register a bonus point victory.
Director of Rugby Martin Jones said: “Our destiny is in our own hands.
“This is what the lads train for throughout the winter in the freezing cold and rain. We take nothing for granted.”
