ENGLISH champion Kelly Tidy will team up with Georgia Hall and Charley Hull to represent England Golf in the Nations Cup event at the women’s British amateur championship at Carnoustie, from June 26-30.
Tidy, 20, won the English title at her home club, Royal Birkdale, when she beat Hall, 16, (Remedy Oak) in a play-off. Kelly won the British championship in 2012.
She also claimed a vital singles victory on the final day of the Curtis Cup as Europe’s golfers completed an unprecedented clean sweep of major trophies against America.
Great Britain and Ireland’s first success since 1996 follows victories in the Ryder, Solheim and Walker Cups and came after they were whitewashed in the opening foursomes.
The home side were still a point behind going into the eight concluding singles, but won the session 5-3 for a 10½-9½ triumph. Tidy, who defeated Austin Ernst 2&1, contributed three wins from four starts.
