Widnes look to use Lancashire Cup win over Waterloo as springboard for season’s opener with Leigh

BUOYED by their outstanding Lancashire Cup victory over high flyers Waterloo, Widnes turn their attention to more pressing matters and Saturday’s league opener at Leigh.

They will be anxious to use last Saturday’s win as a springboard to get their league campaign off to the best start as they travel to face one of their closest and toughest rivals.

Head coach Lee McDermott knows Leigh will be very dangerous opponents and that they will be on a revenge mission after suffering two league defeats to the promoted new boys last season.
