LSH’s Jones stays grounded despite success

AFTER maintaining their challenge in North One West with a comprehensive 49-11 win over Anselmians, Liverpool St Helens need to ensure a repeat performance this Saturday against Kirkby Lonsdale.

The Cumbrian outfit, making an immediate return to North One west after relegation in 2010/11 are, by all accounts, better equipped for a campaign at this level this time around.

Moss Lane is never dull these days and in a game that had everything, sunshine, hailstones, torrential rain, more sunshine, a tremendous Ian Stanley try, a perfect Greg Smith kicking performance and ultimately a bonus point win, LSH did exactly what was required of them. This was however, a performance against an Anselmians side ravaged by injuries.

Director of Rugby Martin Jones said: “It was excellent but it is just another step along the long road that ends in April.

“All the games at this level are tough and Kirkby Lonsdale will be no different.”

Jan Lourens is unavailable this Saturday together with Dave Cunliffe. Centre Paul McLindon has recovered from an injury picked up against the Vale of Lune.
