AS Liverpool St Helens prepare for the trip to Leigh this weekend the club is celebrating the achievement of one of their young girl players. Safina Clay, a member of the club’s successful U18 girl’s team has been selected for the England Students Rugby League side to play the Combined Services on Saturday.
The 16-year-old Cronton College student has a very busy weekend as she will then return to the North West to join ten of her LSH teammates to represent Lancashire U18 girls against Cumbria on Sunday.
She said: “In a town like St Helens, it’s perfectly possible to play both codes. I enjoy them both.”
Meanwhile following the events of last Saturday the club is in the process of conducting internal disciplinary hearings in relation to Matt Cunliffe and Mark Williams, the outcomes of which are not yet known.
Martin Jones is looking for a greater and sustained intensity from his players this week, believing that a tendency to ease off when so far in front led to the frantic finale last week.
