Rugby union: Liverpool St Helens look forward to Wirral clash

LIVERPOOL ST HELENS face up to the final two games of 2012 with a trip to Wirral this weekend and will be looking to continue their recent run of good form.

Having had a weekend off and the opportunity to recover from two hard tussles against Sale and Widnes the Moss Laners will be fit and ready for this week’s challenge.

With one eye on the weather, director of rugby Martin Jones is taking no chances and LSH are making use of the newly laid all weather 3G pitch at Everton Park to train this week.

“Apart from the environment, nothing will be different” he said.

“Phil and I will be concentrating on the things the team do well and making sure that everyone knows their job and is ready to do it”.

Wirral – who had no game at the weekend – are currently sixth in North One West and will be buoyed by two recent wins over Altrincham Kersal and Rochdale and Jones is well aware of the task in front of his lads this Saturday.

He knows that any team venturing down the M53 is in for a tough game.

“Wirral have done well and have firmly established themselves this level,” said Jones.

LSH will have skipper Jan Lourens back in their ranks this Saturday and a fit again John Pape also comes into contention.
