THIRTEEN did not prove unlucky for Formby Ladies in the final of the 2012 Millennium Links Cup.
The 13th staging of the event – which involves eight Merseyside clubs – took place at Wallasey.
Formby Ladies beat Royal Liverpool in the semi-finals and went on to overcome Southport & Ainsdale – who had got the better of Royal Birkdale in the last four – in an exciting final.
The two teams shared the opening four matches with Formby Ladies holding the advantage in one of the three remaining out on the course.
But it needed wins in matches that were only settled on the 17th and 18th greens for Formby Ladies to finally pull ahead and take the trophy.
