Meet the champion: Rachel Turner (Vicars Cross GC)

Where did you hit your first golf balls?

On a little nine hole course in Surrey when I was serving in the Army.

Would you call yourself an addict?

Oh yes!

How often do you practice and play?

In the summer I play at least three times per week and practice about two to three times, but should do a lot more.

What would improve your game?

Short game definitely.

Greatest golf game?

My greatest game of golf was our team winning the West Cheshire Shield in 2012 and to be a part of it. But to watch, you cannot beat the Ryder Cup this year.

Favourite golf course?

I don’t really have one but I played Royal Birkdale recently and that was very nice.

Who do you most admire in golf over the years?

Well since I have been playing I have always enjoyed watching Lee Westwood, but I do admire Tiger Woods’s determination.

Anything annoy you about the modern game?

No

What is your golf dream?

To achieve my full potential as a amateur.

Tip from a champion to a beginner?

Never give up. Always have a positive attitude.
