WIDNES make a welcome return to action on Saturday when they take on big spending Sale at Heath Road.
Their South Manchester rivals have made it perfectly clear that they want to reach the National Leagues in double quick time, and see North One West as something of an inconvenience. Although Sale are currently top of the table, they have not found things easy and have already lost three games, whilst Liverpool St Helens, Carlisle and Vale of Lune all have them firmly in their sights.
Lee McDermott’s side have been relishing this opportunity since they lost narrowly at Heywood Road back in round three. They were the better team that day, and only a late sin-binning handed the initiative back to their opponents.
They ended 2012 on the back of a decent run with two wins and a draw, and with youngsters Chris Atkin and Jonny Lowe in outstanding form, there is no reason they cannot put another spoke in the wheel of Sale’s promotion ambitions.
The game kicks off at 2.15pm.
