IT’S all eyes on the weather this week as Liverpool St Helens hope to entertain North One West rivals Rochdale at Moss Lane this Saturday.
Like everywhere else a good thaw is needed for the game to take place.
The Moss Laners will be hoping, more than most, for the game to go ahead as this will be the last planned home game for almost a month as trips to Anselmians, Kirkby Lonsdale and the rearranged fixture at Vale of Lune are scheduled to follow.
With Sale FC’s win at Fleetwood last Saturday returning them to the top of the table by just one point, LSH – now with a game in hand – will be looking to this next run of games to maintain their challenge.
The adverse weather has also had an impact on preparation and training schedules and Martin Jones’ men have been using the 3G facility at Everton Park as well as good use of the Moss Lane gym. “The lads have been very flexible,” said Jones, “and we’ve managed to keep everyone ticking over.
“There’s no substitute for full on normal practice though and we hope to get back to normal as soon as possible.”
No recent action means no new injuries and it is business as usual for Jones and Phil Boulton as they pick from strength again for Saturday’s game.
