Merseyside and Cheshire golf

LANCASHIRE Girls' Golf Association will again hold their popular nine-hole competitions throughout 2013 on the par 3 course at Hart Common GC, Westhoughton.

Any girl aged under 21, without a Congu handicap, is welcome to take part. More details can be found at www.llcga.org

WEST LANCASHIRE will host the regional final of The Lombard Trophy on Monday, June 17.

The grand final will be at Gleneagles on September 3-4.

FORMBY’S Mark Ramsdale took top honours in the opening Liverpool Alliance fixture of 2013, pipping Houghwood’s Barry Taylor by one point at Formby Hall.

RON Harrison (Romiley) is the 2013 President of the Cheshire Union of Golf Clubs.

HILLSIDE’S Emily Taylor secured a top ten finish in only her second Ladies European Tour event.

The teenager was joint ninth at the Handa New Zealand Open, played at Clearwater GC, Christchurch, with a total of 212, four under par.

It means she makes her first appearance on the Order of Merit in 15th, with 4,425 euros.

CHESTER club Upton-by-Chester finished runners-up in the GolfMark Club of the Year award.
