Mossley Hill knock Vics off summit

TRANMERE VICS lost top place in the Bromborough Paints Merseyside Competition as they were held to a draw by Mossley Hill.

Whitefield took over in pole position with an 83-run success at home to Old Xaverians. Paul Dwerryhouse Snr top-scored with 40 and Majid claimed 4-5. Ian Formby finished with 4-37 for the losers.

Mossley Hill batted for 60 overs at Tranmere, who closed 26 runs adrift with three wickets standing. Best for Vics were Ben Buchanan with 42 not out and Rich Baker 4-41. Steve Wallace reached 45no for Mossley and Mark Kelly finished with 4-48.

Hale Park came away seven wickets to the good from St Mary’s College Old Boys and Singlehurst enjoyed a six-wicket margin at Maritime.

Chris Anderson with 57 and Toby Lynch 44 helped Aigburth account for Bromborough by five wickets.

Goodlass saw off Cheshire Lines by seven wickets with the bowlers to shine being Phil Morgan 5-17 and Tom Garbvutt 4-12.

Runcorn lost by five wickets at home to Ashton-on-Mersey in Division One of the Meller Braggins Cheshire League.
