Key batsman Loye set to miss Roses clash

LANCASHIRE are without opening batsman Mal Loye for the LV County Championship Division One clash with Roses rivals Yorkshire at Headingley Carnegie.

Loye has suffered a recurrence of the back injury which saw him miss Saturday’s Twenty20 Cup semi-final defeat to Gloucestershire. Paul Horton is likely to replace him at the top of the order.

Seam bowler James Anderson will again be missing for the Red Rose as he is set to play in the third npower Test between England and India at the Brit Oval.

International team-mate Andrew Flintoff, however, continues his injury comeback at county level.

Spinner Gary Keedy will hope to partner Muttiah Muralitharan in Lancashire’s bowling attack after being over looked for last week’s championship defeat to league leaders Sussex.

Batsman Brad Hodge is set to make his final championship appearance of the season before returning to Australia next Wednesday for a Twenty20 World Cup training camp.
