Cricket: Cockspur hopes

CRICKET: WITH prize-money increased to £6,500 plus an all-expenses paid trip to Barbados for the winners, there will be plenty of Merseyside and Cheshire interest in the National Club Cricket championship – the Cockspur Cup – in 2008.

Bootle, who have never won the competition, will be at home to old Cheshire County League rivals Bowdon in round two after a bye, while in key first round ties Hyde host Huyton, Widnes go to Wavertree or Chorley and Wallasey take on Northern.
