RAINHILL who are back in the Bromborough Paints Merseyside and Southport Alliance this season gained a four-wicket success over Haydock with Tony Wilding taking 6-66 and skipper Mike Rotheram hitting 52.
Trevor Fabien claimed 9-49 for Manweb but they went under by 44 runs at home to Southport Trinity for whom Ken Murray claimed 5-10.
Alder saw off Caldy by 123 runs. Ashley McDonald led the way with an undefeated 107 and Lance Mulholland took 6-38.
Shakeel Nawaz top scored for Birkenhead St Mary’s with 61 in a five-wicket success over visiting Prescot & Odysey for whom Vinkat Mudiliar reached 119.
Burscough edged out Norley Hall by two wickets. John Davies on his debut made 42 and took 3-4 with Dick Powell taking 4-60. Overseas man Hammad Tariq did his best for Norley with a knock of 88 and a 4-46 haul.
Parkfield Liscard came away two-wicket winners from Moorfield whose Mark Brick hit top score of the match with 40. Kamran Hussein claimed 4-34 for the combined side.
Tranmere Vics lost their first game in the Alliance by 52 runs at home to Sutton. Steve Jordan took 4-1 for the winners and Gary Francis 4-37 for the losers.
