STARTING as joint unbeaten leaders, Chester Boughton Hall were humbled by nine wickets at Alderley Edge in an ECB Premier Division game in The Right Move Abroad Cheshire County League which was all over before the half-way stage.
Apart from Jim Gillson (27), Chester had no answer to the pace of Jason Whittaker, who took 4-41, while Lancashire spinner Simon Marshall marked his debut after moving from Neston with a 2-9 return. Alderley knocked off the runs inside 14 overs, Mark Currie (35) and Alan Day (34 not out).
Bowdon were involved in a remarkable low-scoring game against Widnes at South Downs Road. Bowdon staggered to 42-7 before being partially rescued by skipper Stephen Bramhall, whose doughty 28 took the score to 92 off 59 overs, Widnes’ 20 year-old paceman Danny Moore returning the remarkable figures of 8-37 off 17.3 overs.
Young Danny’s work was to prove in vain when Widnes were routed for 77 in 47 overs.
Neston recorded their second win at Heaton Mersey. Stan Clifford’s team declared at 284-4. Mersey were then bowled out for 155.
Reigning champions Oulton Park won by a comfortable six-wicket margin after Hyde had posted 180-9.
Nantwich’s prolific Queensland all-rounder Glen Batticiotto hammered a masterful unbeaten 151 in his side’s 263-6 declared at Toft.
Urmston registered their first win at home to Macclesfield, whom they dismissed for 114. Neil Lomax’s unbeaten 33 saw Urmston through by six wickets.
