Bowdon impress in victory over Neston

AN impressive performance against Neston at Parkgate brought Bowdon their fourth successive victory and earned them top place in the ECB Premier Division of The Right Move Abroad Cheshire County League.

After their batting heroics the previous week Neston were again among the runs with a declared tally of 229-6, thanks to former Upton youngster Lee Dixon 66, Jack Smith 61 and Stan Clifford 49 not out. Bowdon topped that with a response of 231-6.

Champions Oulton Park proved they are as hungry as ever with a six-wicket win over title pretenders Alderley Edge at Little Budworth after their visitors had declared on 234-9, Simon Marshall 42, Nathan Dumelow 4-39. Oulton won with seven overs to spare on 235-4, Danny Leech 81, Jonny Kettle 75.

Widnes chalked up their first win by a tight one-wicket margin at Beaconsfield Road against Nantwich.

Chester Boughton Hall returned to form with a four-wicket home win over promoted strugglers Heaton Mersey, who declared on 187-9. Hyde were another side to chalk up a maiden victory, by two wickets at Werneth Low against Urmston who were restricted to a modest 140.

Toft had the better of a high-scoring draw at Macclesfield after running up 225-9. Macclesfield fell just short on 220-7, Ben Morrison and Jason Knight both 52.
