THE top three all won in the Bromborough Paints Merseyside Competition.
Leaders Old Xaverians came away 105 runs to the good from Goodlass. Kevin Heywood made 63 and skipper Ian Knox 57. Joe Lyons took 5-20 whilst for the losers, Tony Garbutt claimed 4-58.
Cheshire Lines took a low-scoring match against Mossley Hill by five wickets. Mike Jackson included a hat-trick in his 4-11.
Port Sunlight had four wickets to spare in the Wirral derby at Bromborough. Geoff Ward hit a half-century for Bromborough. Best for the soap men were Jim Roberts with 5-22 and Dan Jones 49 not out.
Adnan Ashraf claimed 6-34 and made 37 for Aigburth who beat Hale by two wickets. Andy Murphy took 4-21 for Hale.
Mark Green 93, Paul Dwerryhouse jnr 66 and Steve Price 4-11 starred for Whitefield in a 96 runs success over St Mary’s College Old Boys whose captain Steve Leyland contributed 40.
Maritime were the other winners by eight wickets at Singlehurst. Wijesingh undefeated on 58, Jayawardine 48 and Sathakaran 4-24 did best.
Three came away three wickets winners from Wistaston Village but Parkonians fell by 21 runs at Lindow.
