Burscough’s turn to try and stop in-form Shazzard

MATCH of the Day in the Bromborough Paints Merseyside and Southport Alliance shows Burscough against Rainhill at School Lane.

Rainhill took over at the top last weekend but Burscough have shown sound form all season and are alongside Alder in second pace just a point adrift.

Overseas man Khuran Shazzard poses the biggest threat to Burscough. He has included five centuries in seven innings to date and is already fast approaching 700 runs.

The Pakistan player has also been amongst the wickets and he certainly looks a top quality capture for Rainhill.

Burscough skipper Darren Lemarinel will be looking to his in-form bowlers to hold Shazzard at bay. Alder after defeat at the hands of Rainhill last Saturday will hope to bounce back away to Prescot & Odyssey, who should be heartened by a Kaufman Memorial Trophy success on Sunday.

Manweb after a first win face a stiff task away to Caldy who have won four of their last five outings after an indifferent start to the campaign.

Birkenhead St Mary’s who have dropped to fourth visit Sutton where Mizan Haq will hope to build on his unbeaten 147 against Haydock last Saturday.

Haydock and Tranmere Vics are still without a victory. Vics have the tougher game away to Norley Hall with Haydock welcoming inconsistent Moorfield. Merseyside Competition leaders Old Xaverians are likely to be too strong for Bromborough at Leverhulme Sports Field.
