RAINHILL claimed the top of the table Bromborough Paints Merseyside and Southport Alliance clash at Burscough by ten runs.
Khuran Shazzard hit 75 and Mike Rotheram 41 for the winners and their best bowler was Tony Wilding with 4-25.
Alan Murray (59), Madursa de Silva (4-38) and Dick Powell (4-62) tried hard for the losers.
Tranmere Vics are still without a victory. Their latest reverse came at Norley Hall by an eight wickets margin. Imran Quadir (64no) and Peter Kay, with an undefeated 44, batted well for the winners and Chris McLoughlin (5-33) helped dismiss the visitors for 115.
High-riding Alder had to settle for a draw at Prescot & Odyssey, who closed 23 runs adrift with two wickets standing. Greg Galbraith enjoyed a good afternoon for the combined side with 85 and 4-42. Chris Spencer contributed 61 for Alder.
Sutton accounted for Birkenhead St Mary’s by 126 runs. Rob Hughes (56) and Sean Anders (54) batted well while Phil Frost enjoyed a 5-25 return. Fidius Vincent made 43 for Saints and Dan Newhouse took 4-94.
Caldy enjoyed a five wickets margin against Manweb. Anthony Sams top-scored with 75 and Haroon Khan took 6-27.
Haydock, like Tranmere, still await a first success. They fell by eight wickets against visiting Moorfield despite totalling 230, of which Andy Lyon scored 46. Moorfield skipper Neil Maher was undefeated on 131.
Southport Trinity drew with Parkfield Liscard. Shaun Robson reached 65 and Kevin Murray snaffled 5-89. Grant Hughes top-scored for the Wallasey outfit with 93.
