Alder are back at the top

ALDER went back to the head of the Bromborough Paints Merseyside and Southport Alliance table on a day when only four games survived the weather.

They edged out close rivals Burscough by two wickets as previous leaders Rainhill crashed by 183 runs against Norley Hall.

Mohammed Masroor with an unbeaten 82 and John Ball 4-45 led the way for Alder. Madura de Silva scored 88 for Burscough.

Imran Quadir struck a fine 162 for Norley and also took 3-37.

Caldy made short work of Tranmere Vics in the Wirral derby, winning by eight wickets.

Vics were restricted to 64 with Mark Hatton claiming 4-28.

Sutton had to settle for a draw at Moorfield who closed 64 runs behind with their last pair together. Sean Anders with 83 and Martin Harvey 56 batted well for Sutton.

Ron Magee hit 70 for Moorfield and Liam Drane claimed 4-38.

Weather casualties were Manweb v Haydock, Parkfield Liscard v Prescot & Odyssey and Southport Trinity v Birkenhead St Mary’s.
