WHITEFIELD took the Bromborough Paints Merseyside Competition top-of-the-table clash at Old Xaverians by eight wickets with Rafa Afridi 82, Steve Cargill 41 not out and Tariq Afridi 7-37 leading the way.
Cheshire Lines kept in touch with the top two also with an eight-wicket margin at Aigburth where Phil Carswell scored an unbeaten 42.
Martin Blair 48 and Dom Charters 4-17 were best Shaftesbury who accounted for Hale by 38 runs. Ian Dutton took 7-45 for the losers.
Thisal Jayawardana’s unbeaten 54 helped Maritime see off Port Sunlight by six wickets.
Rich Smith struck 114 not out for St Mary’s College Old Boys in a four wickets success at Mossley Hill for whom Dave Kelly contributed 65. Dave Ward 91, Steve Nichol 46 and Dave Carr 4-15 were chief contributors for Bromborough, who whipped Goodlass by 178 runs. Goodlass totalled just 31.
Runcorn fell by seven wickets at Mere in Division One of the Meller Braggins Cheshire League.
