Warrington’s promotion chance in tatters

WARRINGTON’S hopes of promotion to the ECB Premier Division of the Right Move Abroad Cheshire County League, which looked so bright a month ago, are now in tatters.

The Walton Lea men continued their bad patch when they were overwhelmed by Poynton, who put them to the sword with bat and ball, running up 248-2 declared (Brian Kingham 115 not out) before bowling them out for 99.

Only Chris Kirby, 40, put up any resistance against the late swing of Simon Turner, 5-35.

Didsbury, meanwhile, continue to set a hot pace at the top of Division One with a 97 runs win at Bramhall, where promoted second teamer Ollie Driver was their star with 39 and 5-13.

Oxton got back to business with an impressive 102 runs win at Cheadle Hulme where Simon Stokes scored 60 in their 189-9 declared .
