Alder lose top place as Caldy strike

ALDER lost top place in the Bromborough Paints Merseyside and Southport Alliance to Rainhill as they fell by 26 runs at Caldy.

Haroon Khan with 5-18 and Rich Battersby 5-49 dismissed Alder for 95 as they chased 122.

Rainhill cruised to a nine-wicket victory at Haydock with Khuran Shazzard undefeated on 78 and Tony Wilding getting 4-31.

Southport Trinity saw off Manweb by 103 runs.

Sutton beat Tranmere Vics by 10 wickets.

Sean Hogan struck 109 for Prescot & Odyssey in a draw against Birkenhead St Mary’s as Shakeel Nawaz reached 75 not out.

Parkfield Liscard and Moorfield also drew in a high-scoring affair. Adam Young hit 103 for the combined side, Grant Hughes 57 and Kamran Hussain 44. Neil Maher contributed 92 for Moorfield and Hughes claimed 4-40.

Norley Hall finished four runs short of victory with three wickets standing against Burscough.
