Alder on top after draw

A TEN-POINT return from a home draw against Sutton was enough to take Alder back to the top of the Bromborough Paints Merseyside and Southport Alliance.

Rainhill, who had led the way, picked up just five points in a draw against Sutton.

Liam Yate on 64 and Matt Dale 48 helped Rainhill reach 189-8. Sutton closed on 166-7 with Joe Harvey contributing 88.
