Widnes out to dash Cheshire rival’s treble chance

BOWDON are in with a real chance of a remarkable treble as they visit Widnes today lying a handy second in the ECB Premier Division of The Right Move Abroad Cheshire County League.

Steven Bramhall’s talented side, coming good during the season’s second half, have lost only one of their first 13 league games and although they lie 30 points behind leaders Alderley Edge, former Lancashire and Notts wicket-keeper Bramhall believes they can make up the ground.

Bowdon are already through to the semi-finals of the Cheshire Cup after thrashing holders Oulton Park by eight wickets last Sunday and are into the last four of the league’s Fred Graham Twenty20 Trophy thanks to a midweek win at Grappenhall.

Irby lead Division Two by 33 points and will be confident of winning at Bredbury, who have won only one match.

Their chief rivals for the title look like being Steve Titchard’s Grappenhall, who go to Stockport Georgians and shortly hope to recall former Lancashire batsman Richard Green, following his completion of his police cadet training.

Tattenhall host Mobberley and will be without star fast bowler Damien Lewis, who has returned to his native Trinidad to get married.
