JOINT leaders Oxton suffered a shock eight wickets home defeat at the hands of bottom club Bollington in the First Division of The Right Move Abroad Cheshire County League.
There was nothing wrong with the wicket on which Oxton struggled for 53 overs to compile a meagre 88, Bollington seam bower Mohammed Ali taking 7-33 off 20 accurate overs. The team who hadn’t won a match until the previous week went on to knock off the runs at 90-2 in 22 overs, Martyn Knight 57 not out.
Didsbury took advantage by recording a winning draw at Warrington and now top the table by 16 points. Didsbury declared on 208-6, Trevor Gane 47, then restricted Warrington to 152-9, Ben Smith 46, Ollie Driver 3-34. A fine all-round performance by their Sri Lankan star Iroshan de Silva helped Christleton end a bad patch and beat Bramhall by six wickets in the last over at Little Heath. Bramhall posted 175-8, Nick Cantello 61, de Silva 3-33 and Christleton responded with 176-4, the pleasant young man from Kandy scoring as chanceless 120.
The Birkenhead Park and Upton clash ended in nine points apiece. Park batted the full 55 overs to compile 170-7, Zia ur Rehman 41, Tom Hunter 40, Adam Watson 4-31 and Upton got to 158-9 by stumps, Dennis Warburton 62 not out.
