ALDER stayed top of the Bromborough Paints Merseyside and Southport Alliance even though their game at Sutton could not start because of a waterlogged ground.
Second-placed Rainhill failed to take advantage as they fell by five wickets at Southport Trinity. They totalled just 100 after being put in. Dave Andrews claimed 4-15 for the seasiders and Kevin Murray then hit a vital 41.
Norley Hall lost third place to Parkfield Liscard as they went under by 81 runs at Caldy. Anthony Sams contributed 90 for the Wirral side and Jason Cooper took 5-26. Peter Kay 4-27 and Chris McGloughin 4-59 bowled well for the losers.
Parkfield Liscard finished 92 runs to the good in the local derby against luckless Tranmere Vics. Grant Hughes hit 96 and Adam Young had a 4-69 return. Ed Briers reached 43 for the losers.
Birkenhead St Mary’s were denied by the last Manweb pair. Steve McGenity top scored with 62 for the Saints and Shakeel Nawaz passed 50 wickets with his 5-74 haul.
