ALDER had to settle for a draw at home to Southport Trinity and lost top place to Rainhill in the Bromborough Paints Merseyside and Southport Alliance.
Kevin Murray and Dave Andrew, each with 69, and Mike War-ing 50 helped South-port to 241-8. Alder closed 35 runs behind with their last pair together. Ken Highdale top scored with 60. Andrew took 5-74 for the visitors, Graham Talbot 4-24 for Alder.
Rainhill had a 115-run win over Parkfield Liscard. Mike Rother-am hit 63 and Matt Dale 51 for the winners and Tony Wilding had a 4-11 haul. Adam Young for the Wirral side finished with 5-35.
Burscough had eight wickets to spare against Sutton. Madura de Silva led the way with an unbeaten 69.
Norley Hall cruised to a 121-run victory over visiting Haydock Gary Hughes contri-buted 58 and Matt Norval 40 while Peter Kay finished with 7-27.
Caldy’s march up the table was halted as they fell by three wickets in a low-scoring affair against Prescot & Odyssey. Venkat Mudiliar claimed 5-19 for the winners.
Birkenhead St Mary’s eased to a 100-run win at Tranmere Vics. Steve McGennity 120 and Shakeel Nawaz undefeated on 67 batted well. Nawaz followed up with 5-50 and Abdul Chippa claimed 4-29.
Manweb and Moor-field played out a close draw. Suresh Perise struck a fine unbeaten 135 for Manweb and the batsmen to shine for Moorfield were Terry Buck 70 not out, Mike Harrison 44 and Neil Maher 42.
