LEWIS CODLING fired a double with Luke Powell also on target as Everton under-18s continued their fine recent run with a 3-0 victory at Bolton Wanderers on Saturday.
Neil Dewsnip’s side are now on a five-game unbeaten run in the FA Premier Academy League, which includes four victories.
The latest success was particularly impressive as, despite featuring five schoolboys, they proved much too strong for the home side.
Codling opened the scoring after 15 minutes from the penalty spot after Powell had been brought down in the area.
Then seven minutes later Powell scored an excellent strike. Following a superb run from the halfway line he coolly finished to make it 2-0.
Goalkeeper Lars Stubhuag saved well from point-blank range to keep Everton’s two-goal cushion. Then almost immediately the match was sealed when Gerard Kinsella set up Codling to score his ninth goal of the season.
Dewsnip said: “Again it was a very young team, but they continue to blossom. It has surprised us a bit, but good on them. They got an opportunity a few weeks ago and boy have they taken it.
