QATAR Hero.
There, that’s just made some headline writer’s job slightly more difficult.
Well, it has if there’s any truth to the rumours gathering apace about a Qatari takeover at Everton – one that’s apparently set to be announced on Cup final week, for maximum effect.
If it’s more concrete than, say, the fabled Fortress Sports Fund’s takeover bid, then all the hypothetical questions raised when Manchester City became the plaything of Sheikh Mansour of Abu Dhabi will come into sharper focus.
How would we, as Evertonians, feel if our beloved club was owned by foreign moneymen with no affiliation or affection for all things Goodison Park and Golden Vision?
Should we rail against any such move, fearful of upsetting the Everton applecart just at the point when everything seems to be running so smoothly on the pitch?
After all, we’re on the cusp of Wembley and theoretically in a position where, with a couple of astute purchases, we could challenge for a Champions League spot next season.
