Jack Rodwell very much part of Everton's future plans

DAVID MOYES has cited Jack Rodwell as a vital part of his future Everton plans – as a centre-half.

The 17-year-old has featured eight times for Everton this season, usually filling the void in central midfield as he did on Saturday when he started at West Ham in the absence of Marouane Fellaini.

Rodwell made way for James Vaughan at Upton Park as Moyes opted for a more attacking formation in the face of a 1-0 deficit, which paid off as his side came back to win 3-1.
