Tim Howard _300
The approach from a goalkeeper should be a professional one – I’m here to keep the ball out of the net and that’s what I’m going to make sure I do.
It’s quite an American characteristic, one which Brad Friedel has always exemplified in his attitude. Like Tim Howard, he talks a lot of common sense and you get the impression they leave no stone unturned in their preparation.
That is what underpins their ability to do a good job week in week out with no fuss.
While David Moyes will be pleased with another shrewd piece of business that got Howard to Goodison Park in the first place, he will also be delighted that this clean sheet mark has been passed with two games to go.
It shows that not only has he helped to resurrect the career of a player who suffered a dip in confidence when he left Manchester United, but it also proves how difficult Everton are to beat.
So Howard can take great credit for his efforts – but he owes a few of his mates in front of him some words of thanks too.
