Everton FC latest - injuries won't stop us, says David Moyes

DAVID MOYES has dismissed fears Everton’s chronic injury problems in attack are now catching up with his team and could threaten their hopes of FA Cup glory.

The goalless draw with Tottenham Hotspur last week was the third time in the last five games the Goodison outfit have failed to find the net, compared to drawing a blank just three times in their previous 19 games.

Moyes’s side have been hampered throughout the campaign by injuries to key forward personnel, with Yakubu, Victor Anichebe, James Vaughan and Louis Saha all suffering major fitness problems at various points.

Everton were even without an available senior striker for two months during the winter period but, with Tim Cahill and Marouane Fellaini forming a profitable makeshift forward line, successfully overcame the shortcoming.

And Moyes is confident the current mini-drought is a mere blip ahead of this afternoon’s final home game of the season against West Ham United.

"I think if it had caught up on us earlier nobody would have complained because we had a lack of forward players for the majority of the season," said Moyes.

"But it has not caused us a problem because our goals for record is pretty good. In the main it has been okay.

"You could say the last couple of games it has been harder to score goals so it is something we have to have to try to improve."

Asked if it was a concern ahead of the Cup final, Moyes said: "I am not considering it, that will be a one-off game when it comes around."

Jo, who is cup-tied for the Wembley showdown with Chelsea on May 30, is expected to lead the line against the Hammers today.
