Louis Saha vows to win FA Cup for injured stars: Everton FC latest

Louis Saha

LOUIS SAHA believes Everton will use their absent team-mates as the inspriation to bring the FA Cup back to Goodison.

David Moyes’s side have won through to the Wembley showdown against Chelsea despite suffering from chronic injury problems this campaign.

Phil Jagielka will be the most heartbreaking omission when he damaged the cruciate ligament in his left knee less than a week after converting the winning penalty in the semi-final shoot-out victory against Manchester United.

Mikel Arteta and Victor Anichebe both suffered season-ending injuries earlier in the year while Yakubu’s campaign had been written off before Christmas after the Nigerian ruptured his Achilles.

And Saha, who is competing for a place in the starting line-up at Wembley, said: “We definitely owe it to those players to win it. I feel that all the injuries we’ve had this season have been really, really bad injuries. Obviously, they were all the players who were really important for the team.

“It’s been really unlucky for them, I am sad for them and they deserve something. Definitely, we have to win for them.

“The main strength of the team is how we work together. I do think we’ve got quality but we are very hard to beat thanks to our strong mentality and that’s what we need to bring on the day.

“When you’ve got good players they can deliver that magic stuff, that quality.

“I have the confidence in my team-mates to win it on the day and that’s the main thing.”
