Rodwell only made his U21 debut in March but has this season become an integral part of Moyes’s first-team squad and is in the running for a start at Wembley.

It is the latest step of progress for Rodwell, the youngest ever player to represent Everton in Europe, after netting his first senior goal in the FA Cup win over Aston Villa in February and shortly afterwards signing an improved five-year contract at Goodison.

Everton have confirmed the have reached a pre-contract agreement for German defender Shkodran Mustafi.

The teenager will officially join the club on July 1, having previously been at Bundesliga side Hamburg.

Everton will pay no transfer fee for the Germany under-17 international, but they are likely have to fork out for FIFA training compensation.
