Chelsea response to Everton FC historic goal thrills Guus Hiddink

Hiddink added: “It’s a big need for the club to have stability now. You don’t want too many changes and they recognise that themselves.”

Hiddink paid tribute to two of his stellar performers – Lampard and Malouda.

He said: “Frank is one of the best players I’ve coached. He knows exactly when he has to bring a turning point and that’s what he’s done many times in key moments.

“ Malouda is one of the players who has had a great resurrection. In the first few weeks I worked very close with the players trying to judge the capacity of every player and working out what he can bring. He is one of the examples who was convinced that he could bring more than what he had showed sometimes. After a few weeks he started playing very regularly on a high performance.

“He took a lot of responsibility and he was rewarded by being recalled to the French national team.”
