FA CUP FINAL: Everton player ratings

LEON OSMAN: Several neat runs early on but left Hibbert hopelessly exposed before being substituted. 5

STEVEN PIENAAR: Everton’s primary source of inspiration with several driving runs but was too often closed down by a hoard of Chelsea players. 7

MAROUANE FELLAINI: Won almost everything in the air but found little support. Set up Louis Saha’s opener, offered fine link up play and deft touches but faded as the game wore on. 7

TIM CAHILL: Unusually subdued and found himself switching position a number of times during the game resulting in a lack of purpose. 6

LOUIS SAHA: Cracking strike to cement his place in the FA Cup record books with the competition’s quickest ever goal. Could have done better when well placed with a second half header before running out of steam. 7

SUBSTITUTES:

LARS JACOBSEN (45): On for the hapless Hibbert and stemmed the threat of Malouda somewhat but found it difficult to offer support on the wing. 6

JAMES VAUGHAN (75): Plenty of bluster but hardly given a sniff in front of goal. 5.

DAN GOSLING (82): Little time to make an impact and barely saw the ball. 5
