Everton FC to make historic first pre-season trip to Ghana

"It’s been a pleasure to work with the guys. We have got a great team spirit, this is a top club, so of course I would love to stay.

"I have a big game on Saturday with Denmark. Let’s get that over with first and then we can talk about the other stuff like a new contract after that."

Injury meant Jacobsen had to wait until March before making his debut, but he impressed sufficiently to play the second half of Saturday’s FA Cup final defeat against Chelsea as a substitute for the

struggling Tony Hibbert.

"I think I have done well in the games that I have played," he added. "Of course it was a shame that I didn’t start in the final but it shows that the manager has big trust in me when he put me on at half-time.

"You are always disappointed when you lose a final. Although the day was a huge disappointment, we can look back over the season and feel proud about what we have achieved. It was difficult for everyone out there. Chelsea are a strong team and they have got some strong individuals. We can’t be sorry for anybody. We all had difficult jobs trying to contain them. It wasn’t only Hibbo."
